Who we are
A plumbing service built around the phone call
Manhattan Beach 24/7 Plumbing is a local plumbing service for homes and businesses in Manhattan Beach, California and the towns next to it. Everything starts with one phone number, (310) 424-7510, which is answered around the clock.
We do not publish a company biography, staff photos or founding dates here, because we would rather tell you things you can check than things you have to take on trust. What follows is how the service works and how to hold us to it.
Our work covers drain cleaning, water heaters, leaks, sewer lines, burst pipes, fixtures and more. The full list is on the services page.
How the 24/7 dispatch line works
The line is the front door to every job. It is meant to be quick and unfussy.
- 1
You call and describe the problem
A dispatcher asks where you are, what you can see or smell, and whether water is still running. If it is, the first thing you will hear is how to find your main shutoff.
- 2
We sort emergency from routine
A pipe spraying water or sewage in the house is an emergency. A slow drain or a dripping faucet usually is not. We tell you honestly which one you have, and we book same-day appointments when available for the second kind.
- 3
A plumber is assigned
A licensed plumber is assigned to your address. Because every job differs, we do not promise an arrival time on the phone. We tell you what we know and keep you updated.
- 4
The price comes before the work
Once the plumber has seen the problem, you receive a clear price for the repair. You approve it or you do not. Nothing is started until you agree.
What licensed and insured means in practice
Licensed means the plumber doing the work holds a California contractor license in good standing. In California, work worth $1,000 or more in labor and materials requires one. Insured means there is coverage in place if something goes wrong on the job, such as accidental damage to your property.
We do not print a license number on this site, so do not take our word for it. Look up any contractor yourself, including us, with the Contractors State License Board at cslb.ca.gov or by calling 800-321-CSLB (2752). Ask to see the license when the plumber arrives.
A real contractor will not mind. If anyone gets defensive when you ask to check a license, that is your cue to stop and call someone else.
How to verify any plumber before you pay
These checks take about five minutes and apply to every contractor you ever hire, not only to us.
Look up the license
Enter the license number or business name on the CSLB site. Check that the status is active and that the name matches the person standing in your kitchen.
Ask about insurance
Ask whether the company carries liability coverage and whether workers are covered. A short, direct answer is a good sign.
Limit the deposit
CSLB advises paying no more than 10 percent down or $1,000, whichever is less. The exception is a contractor with a blanket bond on file. Pay the balance as work is completed.
Get the scope in writing
Ask for the work, the parts and the price written down before the job starts. If the scope changes mid-job, ask for the new price before you agree to it.
What a clear price before work starts means
It means you hear the number for the repair before a tool comes out of the truck. The price should describe the work: what is being repaired or replaced, and the parts involved. If the plumber opens a wall or runs a drain camera and finds something different, the price is reviewed with you first.
It does not mean we can quote a number over the phone for a problem nobody has seen. A clogged drain could be a hair clump in a trap or a root ball in a lateral 40 feet down, and the price is not the same. We will explain what the plumber needs to see in order to be exact.
For sewer work there is a local wrinkle. The City of Manhattan Beach maintains most sewer mains, but the lateral from your building to the main is the owner's responsibility under Manhattan Beach Municipal Code 5.36.240. The City asks for 24 to 48 hours of notice before you flush or clean a lateral. Our sewer line repair team factors that in when planning a visit.
What we do on every visit
Some habits do not change from job to job. Here they are in one place.
| Step | What it looks like | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Check the shutoff | Locate the main valve and the fixture stop before starting | Limits water damage if a fitting lets go |
| Look first | Use a drain camera, pressure gauge or moisture check before cutting anything | Fixes the cause, not the symptom |
| Explain options | Describe a repair option and a replacement option where both are sensible | You choose with the facts in front of you |
| Price first | Give the price before work starts | No surprises on the invoice |
| Clean up | Remove debris, test the fix, and show you what changed | You can see the problem is gone |
The towns and neighborhoods we cover
Our home base is Manhattan Beach, ZIP 90266, which includes the Sand Section near The Strand, the Hill Section, El Porto, Manhattan Village and East Manhattan Beach out toward Aviation Blvd. We also work in Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo and Lawndale.
Water differs across those towns. Manhattan Beach is supplied by the City, while Cal Water's Hermosa-Redondo district serves parts of Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, so check which system serves your address. Hardness numbers vary, and for El Segundo and Lawndale it is best to ask your water provider for its annual water quality report. Hard water is the main reason tanks need servicing and fixtures scale up.
If you are not sure whether your address is in our area, call the line and ask. The full list is on the service areas page.
What we will not tell you
You will not find star ratings, customer counts, award badges or invented testimonials on this site. We would rather you judge us by the phone call, the price and the work.
You will also not be pushed into a repair that does not make sense. If a leaking tank is past saving, we will say so. If a drain only needs clearing, we will not sell you a new pipe.
